I don’t have to work on Wednesday, so I went out for one of these. The pub calls it a Blue Velvet. It is Crispin Hard Cider with Blue Moon beer floating on top of it. It’s a fave.

Ahhh… Looks mighty good!!
I was first introduced to the combo of Strongbow and Guinness in the 80s. I believe it is called Snakebite. Then there was the Black and Tan, Smithwick’s (a red ale) and Guinness and the Half and Half, Harp (lager) and Guinness.
As you can see, I do enjoy my Guinness and my beer but I also enjoy a good hard cider, especially on a hot summer day. My favourite is Magner’s from Ireland, then Bulmer’s. There are also a local maker, Thornbury, that makes a very good product.
None of the products you mentioned are available here… ;( so I can’t try that recipe.
Cheers
This place we go for the drinks is called a pub by the owners and clientele even though the term “pub” is not really used in this area. In local language, it would just be called a bar. They get away with the label “pub” because they try hard to be like traditional pubs that we know of from overseas.
Anyway, you made me think of it because there is a Snakebite on the menu. There is a good list of mixture specialties of which the ciders are faves of mine. There is a lot of effort to import whatever the customers can think of to drink. I’ll check the menu sometime to see if some of the ciders you mention are there. There is an online menu, but it is not complete.
The menu of pub food is especially good. It seems that their business model is quite well thought out, and the customers are numerous.

Looks like a nice spot and I see they have Harp Lager:)
Both the ciders I mention have a wee touch of sweetness to them. Not fully dry. They are excellent on their own and very cold.
To mix with Guinness, I usually have Strongbow, a very dry English cider.
I am sure it will be a busy spot on Monday 😀
Have not had a black and tan in some time. They are great….:)
Here is a great place to go for St. Paddy’s day in Raleigh, NC…..
They also have great music….

Good one, Sylvia. Thank you. I’ll have it on my list if I’m in Raleigh looking for a place. I pass through Raleigh from time to time.
Some of the places I enjoy, or have enjoyed in that area:
–Brother’s Pizza across from NCSU. It’s gone now. 🙁
–Irregardless Cafe on Morgan.
–Char-Grill. The old one on Hillsborough.
I’m having a good time talking about these nice things to drink, plus I have next week off from work. 😀
Yeah I can smell that char on the burgers as we speak…
Hello greybeard a Snakebite is a mixture of Lager and cider traditionally it was made with strongbow cider, and a half and half was another name at one time for a black and tan because of the connotations of the name the black and tans ( at the turn of last century in Ireland). In England a half and half was a half of bitter and half pint of pale ale mixed together. But having lived in Ireland for a while in county Cavan as you I do love Guinness BUT nothing beats the taste of a real cask ale or beer and the craft brewed lagers.:)
